Frida the Xoloitzcuintli | Balboa Park, San Diego Dog Photography

I have ALWAYS had a huge appetite for learning, and of course one of my favorite topics is DOGS! So when the opportunity to photograph a gorgeous hairless Xoloitzcuintli knocked on my door, I was all over it! Xoloitzcuintli - or Xolo, for short - were officially recognized by the AKC in 2010. The word Xoloitzcuintli is derived from the Aztec god, "Xolotl," and the Aztec word for dog, "itzcuintli!" The breed is a member of the Non Sporting Group, and is described as loyal, alert, calm, and trainable. There are both hairless and coated varieties. And as luck would have it for my fellow lovers of specialty dog breeds, Frida is available for adoption! She is a purebred Xolo, who was purchased as a gift then no longer wanted :( If you want to add a unique member to your pack, give Frida a look! If you're not looking to adopt, keep reading for you
