There are few things that choke me up more than hearing about a dog who has passed away. Whether they belonged to a friend, family member, or stranger the empathy and sadness can be like a punch in the gut. And of course, it’s because I know in my heart how it feels to lose a best friend, fur baby, and companion. No matter if their passing was sudden or they had been suffering for a while the sadness is still the same. We have our daily routines with our best friends: snuggles, walks, TV time, and their ever constant presence in our home. When they
are gone it is an almost impossible presence to replace.
Today is Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day and we are looking back on the furry friends that have touched our lives. The death of a pet is difficult and today can be taken as a chance to try and heal, remember, and reflect on how these amazing animals touched our lives. We have a few suggestions on ways to observe today:
Take time to discuss memories of your pet with friends and family
Look back at photos and videos
Share memories on social media
Visit your local shelter to volunteer or spend time with the animals
Celebrating the life and love of just a few of the beautiful souls we've been lucky enough to help live forever in photos.
