Why do you photograph pets and horses?

In 2010 I adopted a Bernese Mountain Dog named Jake who stole my heart, and for over 12 years I wanted nothing more than to find a way to keep him with me forever. He gained his wings on August 3, 2022 but his legacy will live forever in my heart and behind every photo I create for a client.

My Inspiration

Absolutely. We'll take two types of photos - the "fireplace portrait" where everyone is smiling at the camera and candid/lifestyle. How many and what type of images will be based on your comfort in front of the camera, and your face doesn't even have to show if you prefer to just make a cameo appearance (these can often be the most powerful images emotionally)! In preparation for your session, we'll also offer advice on what to wear to complement your pet, the location, and your style.

Can I be in the photos with my pet?

The biggest hesitation we hear is "my dog won't sit still for photos." No problem! Unless we are in an enclosed area such as Haute Dog Ranch - our 7-acre fenced photography studio - or a controlled space at your barn, all pets are kept on leads to ensure safety. Our pet photography sessions are conducted with an experienced handler, who assists with keeping the dogs in place and is later removed in Photoshop to produce the final images.

The location of your pet portrait session is an integral part of telling a story in your images. Fursailles, our 7-acre photo farm is situated in the suburbs of Dallas-Ft Worth and offers a pet photography location designed specifically for the joy and safety of your pet with unique features such as our red barn, vintage truck, dock overlooking the pond, and more. Our indoor studio is climate controlled for the year-round comfort of our clients and canines and our Location Guide includes favorite spots around DFW. We'll work together to identify a meaningful setting that lends itself to creating artwork that fits the style of your home and the comfort of your pet. We typically photograph horses at their home barn, but can also trailer out to the destination of your choosing.
